Inspired by ancient Japanese beast-shaped MAGATAMA found in archaeological pieces, this small piece preserves the primitive and organic character of the ancient form while giving it a softly rounded silhouette. The MAGATAMA features a deep green color with beautiful natural variations throughout the stone. It has little to no translucency, allowing the rich natural color and texture of the jadeite to stand out. At just 21mm, it is a small piece with a distinctive organic form unlike the more familiar curved MAGATAMA. The accompanying jadeite bead features a translucent white to very pale green base with natural green coloration running through the stone. The bead has beautiful translucency. Under strong transmitted light, a vivid green glow appears within its white to pale green body, revealing the depth and clarity of the jadeite. Together, the deep green Beast-Shaped MAGATAMA and softly translucent jadeite bead show two different expressions of natural Itoigawa jadeite.
