The jadeite displays a pale grayish-green base with naturally flowing deep green patterns. These rich green markings create landscape-like scenery and natural depth within the stone, giving the piece an organic appearance unique to Itoigawa jadeite. This piece is mostly opaque. Its beauty lies in the soft grayish-green color, deep green patterns, smooth texture, and natural mineral character rather than strong translucency. Inspired by ancient Japanese stone whistles and Jomon-period forms, each piece is individually carved and polished by hand. The blowing edge and body have been carefully shaped to create a comfortable grip and a balanced form that fits naturally in the hand. A suspension hole measuring approximately 3mm allows the piece to be worn as a pendant when it is not being played. IWABUE produce sound by directing the breath across the edge of the blowing hole. A little practice may be required to find the correct angle and airflow, but once the proper position is found, the stone responds with a natural resonant tone. Place your lower lip gently against the rim and direct your breath downward across the edge while covering the opening lightly with your upper lip.
