This piece displays a striking natural pressed jade structure in which black, smoky gray, and white jadeite were compressed and naturally joined together through geological processes over a very long period of time. This is not artificially pressed or reconstructed jade. The term "pressed jade structure" refers only to its natural geological formation, and the stone remains 100% natural, untreated Itoigawa jadeite. Although measuring only 20mm, the magatama has a thick, rounded body that gives it a satisfying weight and presence. The surface has been carefully hand-polished to reveal the jadeite's natural luster and the beautiful contrast between its dark and pale mineral areas. Soft translucency appears mainly within the white portions, especially around thinner edges where light gently passes through the stone.
