IRIKONSAWA is a specific locality in the Itoigawa jadeite region known for its beautiful blue jadeite. Only a limited amount of blue jadeite has been found from this locality, making IRIKONSAWA blue especially prized among Japanese jade collectors. This piece has a soft blue-gray color with delicate natural variations throughout the stone. Compared with deeper blue examples from IRIKONSAWA, its blue tone is more subtle and gentle. Its fine texture and beautiful natural translucency are especially attractive. In natural light, the color appears soft and pale. Under strong transmitted light, the jade reveals a subtle inner glow and its natural internal structure becomes visible. At only 18 mm, this is a small and compact MAGATAMA with a softly rounded, well-balanced form. Each piece is individually carved and polished by hand to bring out the natural luster and depth of the jadeite.
